5 Life-Changing Organization Books

Updated: Aug 29, 2023

If you're serious about getting your life organized, I highly recommend you get your hands on these books.

The Home Edit Life by Clea Shearer & Joanna Teplin

Yes, the women geniuses of the Home Edit hit Netflix series have a couple of books and a workbook available. This is the new edition. I tend to lean more towards neutrals in my personal spaces, but you can't help but smile at the simplicity and joy their rainbow method brings. BONUS, this is a hit with the kids and it's easy to follow the concept of organizing by colour.

The Real Simple Method to Organizing Every Room by the Editors of Real Simple

I'm a fan of Real Simple magazine and I loved that they've pulled so much content and knowledge from past editions into this book. The photography is beautiful.

Unf*ck Your Habitat by Rachel Hoffman

The title alone hooked me! Rachel's no-nonsense way of approaching decluttering is life-changing and sustainable. Using the 20/10 system of 20 minutes of cleaning followed by a 10 minute break, makes any mess conquerable. A great book to develop some healthy, life long organizing habits.

Interior Design with Feng Shui by Sarah Rossbach

More of a technical guide than anything else. This is an excellent book for understanding how your spaces can be blocking or creating energy flow. I particularly like how corners are addressed and the use of mirrors in a space. This book addresses some important foundational concepts.

The 5 Second Rule by Mel Robbins

I guarantee this book will rid you of that dreaded procrastination we all battle at times. I will admit, I haven't used this method for motivating me to organize, but I have used the technique to help me overcome persistent anxiety. If you need some motivation to get started *on anything*, I highly recommend this book. Its as easy as 5-4-3-2-1 GO!

The Best Way to Take in All this Content: Audible

Sometimes it's almost impossible to find the time to read. And I love reading.

I also LOVE Audible and use it all the time, particularly when I'm headed out on a longer drive. It's the perfect way to get to the books I want to when I have the time. It's how I got to The 5 Second Rule and was able to finish it and put the skills to use so quickly. It's a perfect solution for anyone who has kids or just a really busy life.
